After 4 years of getting close but somehow always having it snatched from the palm of my hand at the last minute, I'm finally going to OFSAA...This one was a close shave too; I only got switched onto the relay team at the last minute, and we just narrowly made the time.?It's a good thing I made it this time; it was probably my last shot at qualifying, because I doubt I'll get through for badminton.?Ah well, better late than never.
So just when I thought I was through with high school, our university counsellor tells me that my performance this term is likely still of significance to my university admission, and so I still need to work hard, perhaps even harder. To top it all off, there's a ridiculous amount of yearbook work to do in a short amount of time, and Clarence is beginning to resemble a slavedriver.
On a separate note, I'm restarting all my sports again. I'll probably be running several times a week, and who could forget the delightful morning swim practices for which I have to wake up at 5:45 am. I got robbed of a trip to OFSAA for swimming in grade 9, but I'm going to try to make it this year on 100 Breaststroke or 50 Freestyle. I'll also pick up badminton again, because Alan has nobody to play with and threatened to call me every two hours unless I played with him every Friday. We'll try to take the CISAA gold from RSGC this year.
My grad ring arrived a few days ago. It's really small, as Nick can tell you since he put it on and couldn't remove it. Apparently I ordered too small a size, and so it doesn't fit me. I'll need to get it adjusted before I can wear it. Bah. Other than that, it's pretty neat. It's white gold, and like most of the other survivors, I got "JJC Survived 1996-2006" engraved on the inside.
I just finished writing my resume for the yearbook. I've read countless resumes that have already been submitted, and though they all attempt to be unique, they have all failed miserably. That in mind, I didn't even try, and so my blurb just states what UCC meant to me, lists my friends & teachers, and thanks my family. I hope I didn't miss anybody on my list of friends' initials =/ The list is of fellow survivors, and then others.
Writing my resume makes university seem so close, but at the same time, it seems distant because acceptance/rejection letters are still a good 2-3 months away. Just thinking about them makes me nervous.
Post-Presents Edit: I got a pretty decent haul this year. I got a sweet Nikon digital camera, a case for my ipod nano, a book, and some other tidbits, but primarily, I got a lot of clothing. Unlike the first Christmas I got clothing, I was actually pretty happy about what I got this time around: 2 shirts (MeXX, Banana republic), 3 sweaters (MeXX, fcuk, Triple five soul), and a Canadian Winter Olympics jacket.
Anyways, I'm off to a Christmas dinner. I hope everyone's having a good winter break, and if not, enjoy the rest of your holidays.
